2013 Gold Star Mothers Fundraiser

On June 4, 1928, a group of mothers met to organize a national organization now known as the American Gold Star Mothers... the bravest of all women who have the unfortunate distinction of having lost a precious son or daughter while they served in the Armed Forces protecting us all and freedom of our great country. In our ongoing effort to recognize these "Gold Stars", a number of local dedicated motorcycle clubs, known as the Inter Clubs of Bucks and Montgomery Counties, have erected a Gold Star Mothers Monument in our area in Skippack on the grounds of the Blue Comet Motorcycle Club. The Monument was paid for solely from donations from individuals, the proceeds from our annual picnic hosted by the Inter Clubs and the generosity of caring businesses in our community. 2013 – Ride for the Heroes

Ride for the Heroes is sponsored by the Central Bucks Rotary Club in support of the Travis Manion Foundation. Proceeds benefit wounded veterans, the families of fallen heroes, and the Central Bucks Rotary Foundation. Shortly after the death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq on Apr. 29, 2007, the fallen Marine’s mother, Janet Manion, founded the Travis Manion Foundation with a goal of honoring the fallen by challenging the living. Until her death on Apr. 24, 2012, Janet worked tirelessly to help families of other fallen service members, veterans, and active duty troops. The words her son spoke before leaving for his second and final deployment to Iraq – “If Not Me, Then Who...” – inspired Janet every day as she built the Travis Manion Foundation from the ground up. With Travis and Janet’s legacies providing a source of daily inspiration, the Travis Manion Foundation’s staff and volunteers work day and night to assist members of the military community. Trudie Yeager – Why I Ride

I fell in love with the riding feeling and the beauty as seen from the scooter with no windows to impede the view. After moving back to PA, we had a 1960 Vespa Scooter and rode that all over on local roads, Pocono's, shore, etc. The next step was a 1973 Honda 350 cc. Again, lots of riding including trips to Syracuse, NY. There were thoughts in the back of my head that I might like to learn to ride on my own. Continue reading
