Elections

• Annual officer elections are approaching, and nominations are now open through the chapter website.
• All officer positions will be open for the coming year.
• The director announced he will be stepping down after approximately 10 years of service.
• The treasurer also announced she will not be running next year.
• The chapter emphasized that at least four primary officers are required and encouraged members to step forward.
• Members interested in running were encouraged to speak with the current officeholder to understand the responsibilities.
• Nominations can be submitted through the Nominations tab on the chapter website now.

Upcoming Events

• Freedom Valley Bike Night: September 24, 6–8 PM — last one of the year; a stunt show is expected.
• Tie-Dye Event: Upcoming Saturday at Bonnie’s house; Don will lead a ride for the men while the women participate in tie-dye activities.
• Baca Bucks Bike Night: September 25 at Mike’s Tavern.
• Messengers MC Bike Night: October 5 at Angie’s, 6 PM — their last bike night of the year.
• Blue Comets Crazy Coffin Run: October 4; members were encouraged to participate.
• LOH Horseback Riding: Planned for October 24. Interested members sign up on Meet Up and call to make their own reservation and provide a refundable deposit. Location, time will be provided
• Mardi Gras: Members expressed continued interest; discussion indicated the event will be held at night this year.
• A possible future bowling event is also being considered.

Safety

A substantial portion of the meeting focused on motorcycle safety:

• Members were reminded that motorcycle riding is increasingly dangerous because of inattentive and unpredictable drivers.
• Members were urged to remain especially alert, particularly regarding distracted drivers and vehicles crossing into motorcycle lanes.
• The group discussed checking motorcycle laws when traveling through different states, particularly helmet and lane-filtering/splitting regulations.
• Six states were mentioned as permitting some form of motorcycle filtering: Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Utah, and California. 

CPR / Emergency Training

• A CPR certification class is being considered for chapter members.
• The safety officer is collecting names to determine interest and class size.
• The local firehouse offers CPR training for approximately $25, with the chapter considering making an additional donation to the firehouse.
• The head road captain, also, discussed Stop the Bleed classes offered through St. Luke’s/Grand View. These classes are free and teach participants how to use tourniquets; participants receive a tourniquet kit.
• PennDOT motorcycle training, also, was recommended. Intermediate and advanced courses were described as free, with a refundable registration deposit. 

Membership

• Membership was reported at approximately 118 total chapter members, with 109 active members.
• Members were reminded to keep their national/chapter memberships current.
• Anyone not receiving chapter emails was asked to verify that their email address is correct. 

Finances

• Beginning balance: $5,289
• Income: $225
• Expenses: $21.98 for the website fee
• Ending balance: $5,492
• The treasurer confirmed she will be stepping down after many years of volunteering.

Community & Veterans

• The chapter recognized participation in the Blue Comets’ annual 9/11 memorial service, with approximately 10–12 chapter members attending.
• Knees in the Breeze was discussed as an organization that provides motorcycle rides and experiences for veterans and first responders, including multi-day rides and camping opportunities.
• The group also discussed the chapter’s veterans-related fundraising efforts and previous donations.

Other Business

• A possible return ride to Journey Church was discussed.
• A member encouraged others to participate in additional rider-training programs.
• The meeting closed with continued emphasis on safety, participation, volunteering, and keeping the chapter active.
