Tilting Motor Works kit turns Harley-Davidson motorcycles into ‘reverse trikes’
The three-wheeled power-sports market is growing fast, driven largely by newbie bikers and aging riders attracted to big motorcycles but afraid of their heft and weight.
Many love the stability of a three-wheeled machine, but an equal number are put off by the handling: Trikes don't lean when they corner. They steer, a little more like a car than a bike.
Now the Seattle-based engineer behind Tilting Motor Works may have found the solution. Company founder Bob Mighell has developed a kit that will turn any Harley-Davidson cruiser into a "reverse trike" — two wheels in the front, one in back — that leans like a bike but won't fall over.
The invention is timely. Harley-Davidson says its three-wheeled Freewheelers and Tri Glides represents the motorcycle giant's third-most-popular model. Sales of three-wheeled Can Am Spyders and Polaris Slingshots are up too. Continue reading

Motorcyclist Fatalities to Drop for 2nd Straight Year
Motorcyclist Fatalities Projected to Drop for 2nd Straight Year
Preliminary data show a decrease, but fatality rates continue to outpace those of other motor vehicles
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists gather in Washington D.C. for the annual Rolling Thunder “Ride for Freedom” this Memorial Day Weekend, the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) is projecting that motorcyclist fatalities decreased for the second straight year in 2014, based on preliminary state data. However, this latest Spotlight on Highway Safetyreport also notes that there is much more work to do: motorcyclist fatalities are 26 percent higher than a decade ago, while other motor vehicle fatalities are 28 percent lower. Federal Agencies Hosing Motorcyclists at Both Ends

Motorcycle enthusiast claims Harley voided warranty over American flag
A former state lawmaker from Chippewa Falls who has logged more miles on a Harley-Davidson than probably anyone on the planet says Harley has voided the warranty on his bike because there are too many flags flown on it, including a 3x5-foot American flag. Dave Zien, who rode more than a million miles on his 1991 Harley that's now parked in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in South Dakota, says Harley-Davidson refused to honor the warranty on his new motorcycle after the clutch and transmission failed on a recent trip to Dallas.
