🏍️ Meeting Overview

Focus emphasized: discussions are about motorcycle rights and safety, not general politics.
Effort to run meetings more formally (reading prior minutes, structured agenda).

Key safety topics from the April meeting:

Standardized hand signals will be shared with all members.
Watch for:
- Distracted drivers
- Road hazards (potholes, gravel, sudden stops)
- Vehicles maneuvering unpredictably (e.g., around delivery trucks)
Maintain:
- Proper spacing
- Forward awareness while watching for potholes
- Clear hazard signaling when safe
Ride predictably and visibly.

Safety emphasis from the May meeting:

Be extra cautious around:
- Tractor-trailers & dump trucks (large blind spots, long stopping distances).
- Poorly maintained trucks or tire blowouts.
Suggested:
- Carry emergency info (3×5 card with personal/medical details).
- Consider CPR training for members/road captains.
- Watch for seasonal hazards (wildlife like deer).

May 9 – Bike show & wash (Blue Comets / ABATE event)
May 16 – Armed Forces Ride
May 17 – Ride to Journey Church
May 30 – West Chester dealership grand opening ride
Ongoing Riding Events:
- Multiple rides posted on Meetup
- Monthly Unaccompanied Soldier Service at Washington’s Crossing National Cemetery ride (last Thursday of every month- ride posted on Meet Up)
- Memorial Day ride to Whitemarsh National Park (ride posted on MeetUp)
- Summer bike nights (May–Sept)

Other initiatives:

Charity effort: $1 per mile ridden for veterans. The HD app is needed, and Brian Burk at Freedom Valley can help get you started.
Looking to choose a meaningful nonprofit for a larger donation this year. Pete is taking suggestions.

New “solo” Harley models introduced at lower price points.
No more freight & prep fees (cost absorbed by dealership).
Request for:
- Volunteers for test ride escorts on Saturdays
- Help with recruitment at Bike Night events. Tell Pete if you’d like to volunteer.
Encouragement to support the dealership when purchasing bikes.

Right-to-repair bill:
- Supports the ability to fix/modify your own bike.
Concerns about:
- Redefining “motorcycle” (could impact insurance, laws, safety stats).
Members encouraged to stay informed and engaged.

Safety remains the top priority (especially hazard awareness and truck safety).
Strong push for community involvement (rides, charity, dealership support).
Growing awareness of legislative issues affecting riders.
Club is active, expanding, and organizing more formally.
